Socked in, but looking to the future…

Hello and an update from Oregon, the fire and brimstone state. :-/

For the last week we have been moving forward seemingly in slow motion as we watched the world around us burst into flame, deliver tragedy to families and businesses, and drown our communities in thick waves of smoke. The ongoing wildfire activity here in Oregon and our neighboring coastal states adds yet another level of difficulty to life in our communities, on top of the issues that were already affecting us.

Oregon and Washington are in the latter half of wildfire season, with rain predicted to start in the next few days or weeks, but California is just at the beginning of theirs. One positive forecast says we are entering into a La Nina weather pattern for the winter, though, which could bring cooler, damper weather earlier. This is a good thing for wildfires, but a bad thing for sickness season. I guess there’s no real way to win. 😉

If you would like to help our neighbors and friends in Oregon and western states in our time of need, please check out the Red Cross website and consider donating money, time, supplies or blood. Your help is greatly needed and appreciated!

Here at the Roost Web Strategies office, it’s just the two of us, and almost all of our business is conducted virtually on a regular basis, even in “normal” times. For the last couple of months, and especially this last week, our trips out into the community have been fewer and farther between than normal. Most of our meetings with customers have been conducted via phone or Zoom, but that, also, is in the realm of normal. So while all of the calamity has not greatly affected how we do business, it does affect a lot of folks that we do business with, and that has been hard. We are all affected by what is going on in our world, and we are connected. We rise and fall as one.

Humans are resilient creatures and I know that we will crawl out of this year and be stronger for it. So we are looking to the future and making plans..! We currently have 8 projects in the pipeline in various stages of development, but we have room for more on our agenda. Even if you’re not ready to start up your online presence yet and you’re just starting to plan for those better days coming up, we are happy to help you start to create a web strategy to jump on when you’re ready! Just reach out any time.

To all of our neighbors and friends everywhere that have been affected by 2020’s many-layered onion of unpleasantness; we feel for you!
